Hey, Buddy...F&%$ You. *UPDATED*

Try to ignore the fact that Sarah Palin’s jacket is turned up to 11 and notice what her small daughter (I’m assuming, Piper) is doing with her middle finger. That’s not parenting that we can believe in.

I was always brought up with the belief that, when you’re in a public place, the way that you act reflects upon your entire family, because they’re the one’s that raised you and you’re the fruit of their best (or worst) efforts.

Case in point; when a certain public figure takes a principled stand for abstinence-only education and against abortion (even in the case of rape) and then doesn’t think that their beliefs led to their daughter getting knocked up while in high school and unmarried. A bit hypocritical, perhaps?

UPDATE: In response to the comment that the upturned finger is, the little girl’s index finger, I enlarged and isolated the picture to show that it is, in fact, her middle finger.

Count the knuckles. Pinky finger, ring finger, MIDDLE FINGER, index finger.

So, shame on you, sir.

(just to clarify, I really don’t give two shits about the cultural significance of Sarah Palin’s daughter giving the bird to another child. I just think that it’s incredibly rude, ill-mannered and more than a little funny.)

  1. Digging this………… Dugg

Not the best picture to catch of Palin’s kid now is it? Although, I’m certain that she wore that UNGODLY jacket in order to draw attention to herself. I guess it failed.

  2. Not even close. That’s her index finger.

    Shame on you.

  3. Hey, Tim, check out the enlarged photo. Shame on who?

Also, as a point of fact, the index finger and middle finger are, biologically, very close. They’re right next to each other. So, even if i was wrong, which I’m not, I was close. Either that or years of watching cartoons, with their four-fingered characters, has left me without the ability to distinguish the amount of fingers on a human hand.

  4. Well, it got two diggs on digg, but a single picture of her flipping the bird skyrocketed into place later.

    Damn cheaters on Digg.

  5. Thanks for the effort, Dartz. I appreciate it.

  6. Odd thing that cartoon “humans” are almost always four-fingered. And those freaking white gloves Mickey Mouse always wears…what the heck is all that about?

By the way, Piper does looked a bit pissed off there. Was she being heckled by a Democrat, a moose, or a Democratic moose?

  7. Drat those mixed tenses. I should have said “Piper looks a bit pissed off there,” and not “looked.” Boy, my old English teachers are going to be chasing me in my nightmares for that faux pas!

A question I have. We are going to be equally snarky about the Democratic ticket, right? Fairness Doctrine and all that?

  8. I assure you, Fardreamer, if that had been one of Obama’s little girls doing the same thing, I would have posted the pic and made fun of her and called out Obama and his wife for not paying enough attention to the rearing of their child.

The point I was trying to make was one of her being a hypocrite for purporing to be a candidate of “family values” when her seven year old daughter was giving another child the finger, her 17 year old daughter is knocked up and being forced into a shotgun wedding and her son (reportedly, not totally substantiated) was forced into joining the military by a judge over a drug charge. It had nothing to to about her as a candidate. It was about her as a person.

Trust me, I’d love to find a funny gaffe of either of the candidates, accentuating their foibles. While I am obviously more slanted toward Obama, I try to keep this more based on snark and humor than advocating for a certain position. But, I’m human, and I often fail at that.

If you want to laugh at Joe Biden, however, I suggest you check this out: Joe Biden Training for Debate, 23/6.com

  9. I almost wish that pic was “doctored up” to make it look like that little girl was actually flipping someone off, but is just looks too real unfortunately. And that facial expression doesn’t too much help matters.

  10. All my laughing aside, that’s a bit troubling! Her face does corrobarate the action. heh!

In all seriousness though, how is America taking this? If this happened where I’m at and whatever relevance the incident has, that’s front page news.

  11. Oh, I wish I knew who she was flipping off and what caused her to react that way. Was she flipping off the boy that is to the right of her? This is way too funny. Makes me wonder who she learned it . Maybe you’re being too harsh and it’s really a secret family gesture that shows love. Nah…her expression says it all. She looks pissed.

  12. I have bad news, I’m afraid. Turns out this is a photoshop. Here’s the original.

Although there is a case to be made for that being one strangely angry peace sign she’s giving. Must be hanging around John too much.

  13. Regardless of where the photo came from, it was definitely worth a laugh. As for the peace sign, maybe she’s actually lining up someone in her sights like she might with a rifle. LOL But you’re right, Erik, sure is an angry looking peace sign, if that’s what she’s doing.

  14. 12. Erik - I’ve honestly never seen anyone make a peace sign like that before, but I have it on good authority that the hand gesture that she actually made before it was doctored is the British equivalent of giving someone the finger over here. Kind of like This

  15. She’s flipping off the British! That really is an outrage. These wackadoodles are gonna get us into wars with Russia AND Britain. What the hell kind of a campaign are these people running?

  16. How can you possibly say that is not the middle finger and that it is the index finger. It is clear which finger it is because if it were the index finger then why is the other finger on the other side and only two fingers on the one side. If it were there would be three fingers on the one side, not two.

This is a very bad example coming from a child. I have a child and I would never allow that, let alone in public. I am not running for an office. If she cannot have here children set the example then we are in a lot of trouble.

  17. Its too bad. I believe in the same as the author had described. These days no body is really worried of culture. There are some ethics to be followed where ever you are. It should be inculcated right from the young age. Parents must take responsible for this because they should teach their kids which is good and which is not. Just think, if she could behave like this at this age, then what will happen when she turns 18?

  18. Aha! It was a bit odd this not being big a deal as I expected it to be. With this original pic, one could argue all kinds of stuff including the kid’s influence on british culture. I personally am not aware of that hand gesture.

  19. The point is here whether or not is what is really happening. People are not effected by it. If the child is really flipping the other child off and no one is really concerned then this is a concern of itself. It is not ok, and should not be recognized as ok if one child is flipping off another child. Society is so messed up and lets so much mis-behavior go away and then the very same people wonder why children get away with what they do as they get older.

  20. You know what… I really do believe it’s an index finger…. Don’t go bashing on me now :) But… I think Palin is standing behind her ideas and beliefs. I mean how easy would it be to change her mind on abortion and practicing abstinence now that her daughter is pregnant. Or even worst, have an abortion and still say it wasn’t ok. I think that would be even more hypocritical.

  21. That is one pissed off little girl don’t ya think. Evidently she figured that a finger would be more acceptable than beating the snot out of her brother in front of God and everyone. The child should be applauded at her restraint as I can’t remember seeing a child so pissed off before. lol

  22. “Regardless of where the photo came from, it was definitely worth a laugh. As for the peace sign, maybe she’s actually lining up someone in her sights like she might with a rifle. LOL But you’re right, Erik, sure is an angry looking peace sign, if that’s what she’s doing.”

You know, considering that Governor Palin can probably pick off a flea from a moose’s rear end with an M-16 semi-automatic rifle, your comment isn’t too far off the mark. Or, perhaps the kid is doing a great John McCain impression with that angry scowl….

  23. You know, you will only see what really is truth when it happens. It was a great laugh and a way to get people thinking about things. People need to stop trying to defend and start looking at the facts if not this child then another one. Is it acceptable if the parents do not care?
